The troops who were fired upon were dead in a matter of minutes. Kandora quickly spread the word that the remaining two-thirds were to re-group, using the smoke as cover. Thinking fast he had his captains spread the word that all were to drop their bows and move toward the enemy's camp, using the smoke from their cannon fire to hide their movements. As soon as they had cleared the cannon's range he ordered the attack, catching the gunmen by surprise, killing the mostly unarmed soldiers before the rest of the troops could close in. It was a bloody battle that ensued, with desperate fighting on both sides. The dark made it hard to determine who the enemy was, and there were many accidental killings on the part of many of the warriors. The air was full of the cries of the wounded and dying, the horses' screams as they were cut down. Blood mixed with the mud caused by the melting snow underfoot, making it hard to stand and adding to the confusion. The fighting lasted until the sky had faded from purple to violet, to a pale grey. The sun rose, painting the air red as the surviving men looked around them; they had won. But the toll was high. The enemy's army had been obliterated. Over half of their own army had been killed. The survivors worked in silence, piling the bodies--both friend and foe--and burning them. The ground was too soft to dig, no matter how horrid the stench of burning flesh, no matter the tears that were shed at such a barbaric funeral. The wounded were moved onto the driest part of the field, the healers using their powers on the worst of them and doing their best for the rest. They did not leave for nearly a week.
At the castle, the news had been received as soon as they had known of their victory. The towns did not get such news, and so continued to hope for the best and do what they had to do to survive, their faces drawn and anxious. They would not know of the war's end, or the fates of their loved ones until the scraggly, travel-worn bands of survivors came home.
The vicious battle wagging between Ohlmin and our Queen has now stopped almost completely. we have once again turned a bad situation in to victory. yes many had died, more then was suppose to but now that the war is over we can start anew. there is no reason why we cant build more efficient weapons like the large cannons the Ohlmin army used against us. there is nothing but peace with in the town gates of Juror, and the elven city of Pandathaway is booming with unseen magic and unseen weaponry.
our queen is still alone, but now her illness has sub sided and she looks upon the world with new eyes. arrangements are being made for a new king, a large kingdom can now survive with out a new king, hopefully he will be a good one.
the dragons have once again woken up to a almost helpless town. many people after the war had moved away and now are looking for a new village that doesn't have such beasts around their town. the dragon's looking after their hatchling are now out to look for large amounts of food for their hatchling.
